The ancient Greeks used thyme to strengthen the body. Thyme offers antioxidant properties and chemical compounds that give thyme its antispasmodic, sedative and expectorant qualities. It is excellent as calming coughing. Thyme is so beneficial that pharmaceutical companies used thyme in their medications and mouth wash. NOTE: Do not use thyme in large doses; do not exceed recommended dose. Not for pregnant women or those with a thyroid condition. Herb teas are not as potent as tinctures and by volume the child would need to drink more tea when compared to a dose of tincture. You can administer the herbs when the cough is problematic.
